Welcome to the Carbon County Recorder’s Office
The County Recorder is the custodian of all recorded documents lawfully required to be recorded and maintains cross-reference indexes to these records. The Recorder's Office also maintains a set of plat maps, which show the current ownership of each parcel in Carbon County. All instruments of record and all indexes are open for public inspection during office hours. Copies of documents may be purchased at the Recorder’s Office, or you may access select records online. Please note, this office does not record Wills or Estate Trusts.
DEPARTMENT SERVICES
The County Recorder is required to record all qualified documents submitted by the public. Recorded documents must be the original document and have original signatures. Further, they must contain the tax parcel number and legal description of the property. The document to be recorded is required to be notarized with a notary stamp with a legible notary seal. The fee for recording any document/instrument is $40.00. If the document contains more than 10 legal descriptions, $2.00 will be charged for each additional description.
Documents may also be mailed to the Recorder’s Office for recording. A check for the appropriate fee is required to accompany the document. Please make checks payable to the “Carbon County Recorder’s Office”. Payment must be made at the time of recording. If for any reason an error is detected after recording, the associated fees will not be waived for re-recording and ownership will not change.
