Boating
The Corridor
Whether we are talking motors, pedals or paddles, there is fun to be had on the various lakes, rivers, and reservoirs in and around the Carbon Corridor.
Our waters range from wild to mild. On the wilder side are the rivers that run through the county, and on the mild side are the reservoirs tucked amongst the mountains, cliffs and canyons.
The Price River is a top water destination, offering multiple put in spots for kayakers, floaters, and those looking to cool their toes on the hot summer days. A favorite activity amongst the locals is to float the portion of the river that runs through Helper. With the put-in point just north of downtown, you can float a 2.5 mile stretch of the river, enjoying the natural beauty and cooling effects of the mountain water.
If you are looking to ride the rapids, check out the Green River. This popular river runs through the County and offers rapids that will test even the most seasoned of paddlers. If you are looking for a guided tour, our Recreation Department offers guides, rafts and all the safety gear you will need. The Green River is also a great destination for kayaking, canoeing, floating and paddleboarding. Locals will tell you that Swasey's Beach is the best destination in the area for water recreation on the Green River - and they aren't wrong!
The many reservoirs around the County are great for boating of all sorts! To the North you will find Scofield Reservoir, if you head South you will discover Huntington Lake, Joe's Valley and Millsite Reservoir, all are great options for any water enthusiast. Scofield State Park's reservoir is by far the coldest option, as it is the highest-elevation state park! Which makes it a great cool summer retreat for boating enthusiasts. The lake has boat launches for motorized and non-motorized boats.
Huntington State Park and Millsite State Park both feature warmer waters, and close proximity to the towns around The Swell, just to the south of the corridor. The reservoirs boast warm waters and beautiful, scenic backdrops for all your boating adventures. Joe's Valley Reservoir is located high up in the Manti-la Sal Mountains, at an elevation of 7,000 feet. The lake has a boat ramp on the eastern shore and makes for a great long weekend destination with picturesque campsites that have great views of the sunrise over the lake.
And let's not pretend that boating is the only way to enjoy the water in and around the Corridor, hop on over to the pages for swimming and winter activities to learn more!
